Behavioural Counselling

Behavioral Counselling & Student Well-being at Indus International School

At IISH, emotional well-being is integral to education. The Behavioral Counselling Department offers a structured, multi-tiered program to support every student’s emotional, social, and psychological growth.

Our Comprehensive Services

1. Individual Counselling

Students may be referred by teachers, parents, peers, or self-identified. Our counselors provide confidential, one-on-one support for issues such as anxiety, stress, peer conflict, family concerns, trauma, and self-esteem.

2. Group Counselling

Small group sessions (5–8 students) focus on common challenges like anger management, emotional resilience, conflict resolution, and study habits. Groups provide a supportive, peer-based environment guided by trained counsellors.

3. Classroom-based SEL

Aligned with the IB continuum, counselors deliver age-appropriate SEL sessions:
  • PYP: Foundations in self-awareness, empathy, resilience, and decision-making.
  • MYP & DP: Topics relevant to adolescence—stress management, identity, digital safety, and well-being.

4. Boarding Student Support

Boarding students receive dedicated individual and group counselling tailored to residential life, ensuring emotional safety and adjustment throughout their stay.

5. Workshops & Training Seminars

  • Students: Life skills sessions on emotional intelligence, digital well-being, and mindfulness.
  • Teachers: Training in foundational SEL integration, classroom mental health strategies, and early intervention skills.
  • Parents: Workshops on adolescent development, emotional literacy, and effective communication to foster stronger parent-child bonds.

Collaboration, Confidentiality & Early Intervention

Confidentiality is maintained except when a student poses a risk to themselves or others.

For moderate- to high-priority cases, counselors proactively involve parents and seek external referrals with consent.

Regular coordination with teachers , ESL & SEN Departments (if applicable), and leadership ensures that intervention plans are aligned and progress is tracked.

Additional safeguards include:

  • Referral protocols to external mental health services
  • Multi-stakeholder engagement in sensitive cases

Our Commitment

We strive for early intervention, not just reactive support.

Our approach is student-centered, evidence-informed, and inclusive.

We foster emotional resilience, teacher well-being, and parent partnership as essential to every student’s success.

We continuously monitor, evaluate, and improve our services through data-informed practices.
