Special Education Needs (SEN)

At Indus, we take pride in being an inclusive school community committed to recognizing and celebrating the unique strengths and needs of every learner. Our SEN team works to ensure that each child has equitable access to the curriculum through targeted support, collaboration with teachers, and strong partnerships with parents.
In PYP
Our focus is on early identification and intervention. Students with special needs are supported through:
  • Remediation and differentiated instruction
  • Classroom accommodations such as simplified instructions, visual aids, and scaffolding
  • Additional support in one-on-one sessions
We work closely with teachers and parents to build strong foundational skills, bridge learning gaps, and nurture confidence, while also helping children gradually develop independence in their learning.
In MYP/DP/CP
Our SEN team provides individualized interventions and formal accommodations. To avail SEN facilities in these programmes, including assessment accommodations, a formal assessment report is required.
Support provided includes:
  • One-on-one sessions: We develop an Individualized Educational Plan (IEP) to support learning. While the curriculum is not modified, we provide differentiated instruction to help each child understand and learn effectively. The IEP is carefully designed by considering the child’s learning challenges, individual learning style, and specific needs arising from the learning disability.
  • Classroom accommodations: These may include extended time for tasks, scaffolding of instructions, use of assistive technology, or alternative methods of demonstrating learning.
  • Formal examination accommodations: These are provided in accordance with IB guidelines and may include extra time, the use of a laptop, or the provision of a reader/scribe. Additional accommodations will be provided as appropriate, based on the student’s documented needs.
All supports and accommodations are reviewed regularly to ensure they remain aligned with the student’s progress and evolving learning needs.
At Indus, our SEN team believes that all children can learn and is committed to bringing out the best in every child through targeted support and inclusive practices.
